Copper organised a general medical camp and an eye camp for truck drivers as
part of 24st Road Safety Week celebration here on Friday.
Sterlite Copper in
association with Regional Transport Office, Tuticorin observed Road Safety Week
by organising general medical camp and an eye camp for the truck drivers at the
truck parking yard near Sterlite Copper in Milavittan. More than 200 drivers benefited through the
camps. Free spectacles and medicines were also distributed during the camps.
Mr.B.Narayanan, Deputy
Superintendent of Police (Rural) released the road safety awareness pamphlet in
the presence of Mr.Thangavel, Regional Transport Officer, Thoothukudi and
Mr.P.P.Markhs, Head – Logistics,
Sterlite Copper.
Speaking at the function,
Mr.Thangavel insisted that people should be educated on the need to follow
traffic rules strictly and road discipline in order to ensure the safety of
vehicle users.
Mr.B.Narayanan appealed
to the truck drivers to strictly adhere to the road safety norms.
In his address, Mr.P.P.Markhs
said that the Road Safety Week had gained importance because of the rise in the
number of vehicles plying on the road.

Medical Officer, Sterlite Copper and Mr. P.Krishnan, Inspector,
SIPCOT Police Station
were also present during the event.
